Spotlight: Furry Book Month
In case you didn’t know it, October is Furry Book Month. This started a few years back and has been kept alive by readers, authors, and publishers every year since then. Most publishers offer discounts on their site, and the Furry Writers’ Guild is putting on its online convention, Oxfurred Comma, for the second straight year (October 16-17). This is an exciting time because I love the furry writing scene and it’s nice to see people talking about it! So many furries don’t even know that we make our own stories.
Twitter is the best place to find out what’s on for the month (search the hashtag #FurryBookMonth) and to post about furry books that you’ve discovered or that mean something to you. To find out what activities are going with Oxfurred Comma, visit their programming page.
If you’re missing any of my books, this is a good month to pick them up! But it’s also a good month to discover some other furry authors you might not have tried yet. Check out the Twitter thread where furries talk about their favorite books and see if something there appeals to you. If you’re having trouble deciding, try an anthology; furries love anthologies and it’s a great way to sample a bunch of different writers. I edited both FANG 10 and all of the New Tibet anthologies, but there are a lot of great ones out there.
When you want to take advantage of the publisher deals, check out the Furry Writers’ Guild’s page where all the participating publishers are listed. And if there’s a furry book you love, recommend it to a friend. It’s the best thing you can do for free for an author!
