Hey, if you’re in the U.S., we got this election thing you might’ve heard about happening tomorrow, where a sensible politician with reasonably decent views on how to treat people is running against a peeved authoritarian with advancing dementia whose campaign is mostly “I’m gonna hurt people you don’t like, and also there will be tariffs (which will hurt you).” Anyway, I voted for Kamala Harris. She was my Attorney General and then Senator, and she did pretty well at both jobs. I think she’ll be a good, capable president who will not enable and encourage hateful rhetoric and acts against many communities I count friends among. I wrote a thing about it, if for some reason you are a follower of mine who doesn’t want to vote.
In addition to voting, please take care of yourself. If you need to disconnect and dive into a good book or movie or game for a couple days, rather than obsessing over when the last few precincts from Michigan will come in, that is perfectly fine. Vote, help if you can (volunteer or donate), and hopefully in a few days we will be celebrating.
October is always a fun month. There are several occasions on my calendar, fall is finally kicking in here in the Bay, and this month was further complicated by a destination wedding in the final week. It was a fantastic time, and I did have a few odd moments here and there where I could think about the mystery which is my current top priority.
So yeah, I’ve reshuffled things because my publisher pointed out that Furry Fiesta this year has an Agatha Christie murder mystery theme, and could my mystery be ready for that con? It could, if I focus on it first between now and then, so that’s what I’m doing. It’s fun playing in that mindset.
I’ve gotten back into recording the audiobook for The Price of Thorns after the summer’s disruption, and we’ve gotten some feedback from the producer, so hopefully can keep moving forward on that. Those two projects will be my focus for November until Weasel Under the Sun is done, and then I’ll go back to revisions on Azure City and the third Wolftown book.
Oh, speaking of! Dead Right, the second Wolftown book, will be coming out at MFF, and we will have a cover reveal soon! Keep an eye on my socials for the cover—we’re using a different artist than for the first one, so Unfinished Business will likely get a re-cover soon too! And Love Match 2’s audiobook is in post-production now and should be available soon!
Books:
Squeak Thief: A rich mouse hires a fox thief to steal from his own family, but the job quickly spirals out of control. You can get it as a print book on FurPlanet or Amazon, or as an e-book on BadDogBooks or any other major retailer.
The Price of Thorns: buy at Argyll and review at Amazon or GoodReads. In a fantasy world where stories are woven into the fabric of magic and life, Nivvy the thief is hired by a mysterious woman, and this job will change his life in ways he could never have anticipated.

We are working on getting Love Match 2 out the door—should be available this month! Work on the Price of Thorns audiobook continues; we hope to have this out next year. The Dude, Where’s My Pack? audiobook is also in process.
Other upcoming releases:
Dead Right: Late fall 2024 (MFF). Jae gets tangled in the life of a ghost activist who endangers his relationships and his future.

Streaming:
Shrinking (Apple+): I mentioned this last month. It is from the creator of Scrubs, and if you liked Scrubs, there’s a good chance you’ll like this one. From a character standpoint, at least, there are a lot of similarities (fewer imagination sequences though). Jason Segel and Harrison Ford are the headliners, and both are great, but the supporting cast is also fantastic. Second season is coming soon or maybe already dropped! I haven’t checked.
The Gentlemen (Netflix): I mentioned this one last month, too. It delivers on everything you would want from a Guy Ritchie production. The first season ends very well and sets up for a second, which has been confirmed. So if you like British actors with a variety of dialects, crime organizations, boxing, and/or extraordinary characters with pretty good dialogue, it’s worth checking out for sure.
Agatha All Along (Disney+): I wasn’t sure about this one when it started, but the more it went along, the more it appealed to me. I really liked the back half of the series a lot, and it changed the way I viewed some of the early stuff. The surprises feel earned and the actors are all in on the slightly campy nature of the show. I’d place this in the upper third of the Marvel streaming series, up with WandaVision and Loki and Hawkeye (though it has more in common with the first two than that last one).
The Wild Robot (theaters): Super cute movie with a delightful fox character you have already probably seen in art and Telegram stickers, aimed at parents (sort of) but with enough in it for everyone. It has a weird structure but it does work well, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. (Fun side note: the gosling is voiced by Kit Connor, one of the two leads in the Netflix show Heartstopper (gay British boy’s school romcom), and the other lead, Joe Locke, plays Teen in Agatha All Along. Glad to see them boys getting more roles.)
Hope you all had a good spooky season, and let’s have a great fall!
